Trainspott…knitting
I’m commuting a lot. As in A LOT. As you might have noticed. What better way to spend those dead hours with something useful like knitting? And since my mind has been completely focused on the In Bloom Shawl and mittens combo, why not knit matching socks as well? I made a simple toe up sock with an In Bloom cuff as in the mittens pattern. I quite like it, how about you?
You can find the pattern for these here now.

This feminine toe-up sock pattern is perfect for creating something beautiful matching the In Bloom Shawl and the In Bloom fingerless mittens patterns.
They feature a cute lace cuff with pretty scalloped edging.
All you need to know is how to do knits and purls, yarn overs and simple increases and decreases.
Both charts and written instructions plus photo tutorial are given.
What you need:
- Your favourite fingering yarn, about 200 yards for a pair of adult socks
- A cable needle or 5 double popinted needles in an appropriate size (I used 2.5mm for fingering)
- Tapestry needle to weave in ends
It’s been quite a lot of rides on the metro these last two weeks, so I finished a few projects while commuting. The one I finished today is this lovely pair of glitz mitts, with a hint of glitter. This is my favourite fingerless mittens pattern for the Coziness Fingerless Mittens, I think I’ve already knit up a million pairs from it and I still love it. It needles only about 120 – 150 yards (110 – 137 m) of fingering weight yarn and makes for some really cozy mitts. These are also available in my shop now now.

Here are some socks size EU 35/37 or US 5-6 (up for grabs in my Etsy store), made from my Hot Waffles Socks knitting pattern (for free on my blog).

And another pair of socks for my lovely model Vivika, also made from the Hot Waffles Socks pattern., I was able to use up two leftovers, isn’t this a great feeling 🙂

And since, as you well know by now, I’m all about leftover knitting, I had to make some more small cuties. These butterflies (pattern) have crinkle paper in their wings to keep the smallest happy and busy. My son just loves them and can’t stop playing with them. I’ll be selling my knits on a Christmas market in November, so I’m currently stocking up my shelves. Why not use these as Christmas tree hangers, also? 🙂 You can also find these on Etsy.
