This cute mini-hippo is a beautiful gift for big and small kids alike and a great addition to your private zoo. Plus it’s a quick knit and easy to care for 🙂
Techniques used are
- knit in the round and do
- simple increases and decreases and to
- graft/kitchener stitch.
What you need:
– ~ 10g cotton yarn or similar in any hippo friendly colour
– Leftovers in pink or red for nose and mouth, black for the eyes
– 5 doube pointed needles (2,5 – 3,5mm)
– Tapestry needle
The body is knit in one piece with head and feet knit separately and sewn on later, alternatively you can pick up the stitches for these directly from the body.
The gauge is not important, but you should use needles at least one size smaller than indicated on the yarn to prevent the fiberfill from showing.
